| The SOC003 Serial Output Controller module is a low-cost, high
performance serial data channel for use in VME-based host workstations
and computers. It provides users with the ability to produce a serial
data stream at bit rates from 1 bps to 16 Mbps programmable with 2.3 MHz
resolution.
The SOC003 card contains 2 Megabytes of static memory organized as dual 512K by 16 bit ping-pong buffers. A flexible buffer architecture and interrupt scheme are provided to allow the user to produce simulated or realtime data transfers from host memory. A variety of operating modes allow the SOC003 module to support a wide variety of data serialization applications. An embedded DDS-based synthesizer provides a software settable bit rate clock, or optionally, the user may provide an external ST (send timing) clock to drive the serialization of data. The user may produce complex data formats and, through VME Bus slave transfers, change the DDS frequency in realtime, thereby simulating doppler variations on the serialized data stream. |
