The SBD002 module provides a low-cost, high performance method of acquiring PCM data into an ISA Bus (AT compatible) computer. It accepts serial data and clock and provides the user with reconstructed data samples in its on-board ping-pong buffers and also simultaneously on a secondary parallel output port.

A flexible decommutation architecture provides the ability to individually program the word length, orientatation, parity, and pass/drop on a word-by-word basis. This, along with extended frame size capabilities, allows the SBD002 module to handle PCM formats well in excess of those described as Class II in IRIG 106-93. The SBD002 module achieves format synchronization based on a programmable sync strategy that allows for noise burst, bit slips and other transmission irregularities without loss of data. Time data can be added to the end of each frame, major frame or buffer to provide accurate time correlation of buffered data.
