The PSK005 PSK Subcarrier Modulator is a high performance Binary Phase Shift Keyed (BPSK) / Quadrature Phase Shift Keyed (QPSK) modulator with a tunable frequency subcarrier generator. A Pseudo-Random Data Generator and Data Code Converter are also included. The entire function is contained on a 6U x 160 mm single card slot VME compatible circuit card. |

The PSK005 BPSK/QPSK Modulator accepts external data and clock inputs, either via a single-ended TTL or a balanced RS-422 interface. An internally generated PRN data source may be selected in place of external data. The selected data is passed to a code converter for decoding and/or encoding. NRZ-L/M/S, BiPhase-L/M/S or DM-M/S codes are supported. The code converter output is used for coherent or non-coherent BPSK or non-coherent QPSK modulation of the subcarrier. The subcarrier frequency is tunable from DC to 10 MHz. The output level of the modulated sub-carrier is adjustable from +20 dBm to -30 dBm with ON/OFF control also provided. The internal PRN data rate is tunable from 1 bps to 10 Mbps. The modulation data source, PRN data rate, and subcarrier frequency are all user selections controlled via the VME bus interface. |

The PSK005 is part of the GDP Space Systems family of Modular Subcarrier System (MSS) signal generators. The MSS provides high performance, multi-channel Phase Shift Keyed (PSK), Frequency Shift Keyed (FSK), Space Ground Link System (SGLS) and Digital Baseband (BB) signal generation. Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) techniques are used to produce the subcarriers at frequencies up to 10 MHz. The MSS provides the facility for signal summing thereby producing composite outputs. Each of the MSS family of VME cards can be used individually in single-channel systems or in various combinations for multi-channel systems. |
