The FDM001 (VME form-factor) and FDM002 (ISA form-factor) SGLS Signal Demodulators are high performance FSK/AM demodulators, which receive and demodulate the standard Space Ground Link System (SGLS) FSK/AM tri-tone signal. |

The FDMxxx modules reproduce 1, 0, and S ternary data with a coherent command clock derived from the received SGLS modulated subcarrier tri-tone signals. FSK tones of 65 kHz, 76 kHz, 95 kHz at command rates of 1 kbps and 2 kbps are supported. The command data rate is automatically detected and demodulated. One SGLS signal input is accepted. TTL and RS422 ternary (1,0,S) data and clock outputs are provided. A squelch capability is included to inhibit data output when the input signal drops below a preset threshold. No user setup or control is required. Both the VME and ISA only require a single card-slot. SMA interface connectors are located on the card edge panel for the Demodulator signal input, TTL outputs (S,0,1, & CLK) and the RS422 output. Test outputs are provided on a multi-pin front panel connector for the SGLS input signal, and recovered ternary data and clock and sync status. Synchronization status is indicated by LEDs located on the front panel. To demodulate high data rate SGLS signals, use the GDP model FDT001 or FDT003. These devices support rates to 106ksps. |
