The module is compatible with the GDP SBD001 Single Board Decommutator module. As a set, the DAC002 and the SBD001 modules provide the ability to synchronize to virtually any PCM telemetry stream and drive strip chart recorders, oscilloscope channels, or similar devices with decommutated data. The DAC002 module accepts word number and frame number from the SBD001 along with the sixteen (16) bit data field. A 64K byte routing memory, resident on the DAC002 provides significant flexibility to support manipulation and routing of the received digital data to the 32 DAC channels. Definitions programmed into this memory determine the destination output channel(s) and the repositioning instructions for the data field alignment to the MSB of the DAC. A single measurement decommutated from any location within the telemetry master frame may be routed to multiple DAC channels. There are no restrictions placed on the data to DAC channel routing. |

Applications |
When selected digital data needs to be converted to an equivalent analog representation the DAC002 is the ideal solution. Being fully compatible to the GDP Space Systems line of PCM decommutators, the DAC002 provides digital-to-analog conversion of any set of decommutated digital information located anywhere within the telemetry frame. The powerful output drive capability and individual channel output voltage selection supports interfacing to a wide variety of strip chart recorders or other analog input devices. Proper alignment of each data sample to the most significant bit of the DAC is by means of independent definitions for each DAC channel. |
