The Model 942 Multi-Channel Bit Synchronizer consists of four (4) high-performance, Bit Synchronizers and Viterbi Decoders contained in a single chassis. Internal connections and a “smart switch” make the unit capable of controlling the I and Q pathways from a UQPSK demodulator. All selectable functions are controlled through either the local front panel display and keypad, or the RS-232 or IEEE-488 remote control ports.

All relays in signal paths are dry contact type with insertion loss of less than 0.1 db @ 100 MHz.

Non-selected inputs are terminated with 50 Ohms to ground.

A Vacuum Fluorescent Display and Keypad facilitate operator control from the front panel. The bright, high contrast Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) display presents 6-lines by 40-characters. The Key-pad contains Twenty (20) momentary-action keys.

Remote control is accomplished by means of either the IEEE STD 488 GPIB Interface or the RS232 Serial Interface. Both ports are operated using a simple ASCII character transfer protocol and command format. The serial interface operates at selectable standard rates up to 19.2 K baud.
