Digital Matrix Switch - Model 911

[ Data Switches ]

The Model 911 Digital Matrix Switch is a 64 x 64 non-blocking digital matrix switch which can be used to connect any input to any output port. Each input and output port comprises a data/clock pair. This 10.5 inch high rack mounted unit has both stand alone and remote control operations.

Features

  • Operational frequency range is DC to 15 Mbps
  • TTL input and output voltage levels
  • Local and remote control
  • Any of 64 digital inputs can be connected to any of 64 outputs
  • Last input/output setup stored in NVRAM and recalled on power-up
  • Four preconfigured input-to-output setups in NVRAM
  • Input and output fault protection
  • Optional LABVIEW-based software for setup and control
  • Standard 19 inch EIA rackmount chassis, 10.5 inches high, with non-tiliting slides

The Model 911 Digital Matrix Switch includes a Control Processor (CPU) which accepts setup information from local front panel entry or data transfers from a remote host computer. After the matrix connections are setup, no other intervention is required for operation. A VF display and keypad using a multiple menus entry system are utilized in the local data entry and control mode.

An RS232 communications port provides independent host computer remote control operations. Operations setup by a system operator or host computer remain constant until a request for change has been made.

On a power fail, the system maintains the last setup in a Non-Volatile RAM (NVRAM) storage area. Upon power-up, the Model 911 restores the last operational setup. In addition to the last setup prior to power-down, non-volatile storage of an additional four(4) complete switch configuration setups is provided for quick selection by the user.

The control operations allow operator assignments for any one of 64 digital input data/clock pairs to be connected directly to any of 64 digital output data/clock pairs. An input can be connected to more than one output; however, the internal CPU system includes setup error control so that an output cannot be connected to more than one input. The inputs and outputs are TTL compatible.

Signals at data rates from DC to 15 Mbps can be switched. The connectors used for input ports 01 to 16 data and clock pairs are standard BNCs. The remaining input and output connections to the Model 911 are made through fourteen (14) multi-pin connectors, each of which accommodates eight data/clock pairs. Six of the multi-pin connectors are used for inputs 17-64; eight connectors are used for output ports 1-64.

Applications

Typical applications for the Model 911 are in the areas of Telemetry, PBX Systems, Instrumentation, and Digital Networks.
