The Model 108 Link Error Simulator provides a means to evaluate unit or system performance in a simulated noisy environment. |

The unit accepts a digital data stream in TTL, RS232, RS422, or Tl format and inserts errors randomly at a selectable rate. The probability of error burst occurrence and the number of errors per burst are settable. The wide range of error conditions permit the simulation of virtually any data link. Error insertion is controlled by digital pseudo-random sequence generators. This permits repeatable test results without complicated adjustment procedures. The Model 108 generates a statistically random error signal of the form: ER=(m x 10-n) opq error bits/bit; where m and n are selectable from 0 through 9 to form the burst rate and opq (a three digit number which represents the average number of (errors per burst) is selectable from 0 to 999. |
