The Model 225E is an IRIG-106 Class II telemetry format synchronizer and a data quality monitor. The unit synchronizes to both the minor frame and sub-frame (major frame) cycle.
Contained in a single 3.5 inch high rack mountable chassis is a full scale programmable frame synchronizer / decommutator and data quality monitor. An optional PCM Bit Synchronizer may also be installed in the unit. The front panel contains a key-pad and display, which provides full control of programmable parameters and display of selected data and data quality information.
The decommutation process supports the definition of individual word lengths, MSB/LSB orientation and pass or drop words from the output. The 225E features an extended frame length capability to support long frames such as exist on the weather satellites.
Data Quality Monitoring counters are provided that report critical characteristics of the synchronization process in real-time. The number of Check or Lock Frames, Inverted Frames, Unacceptable Sync Patterns, Frames with Bit Slips, Frames in Major Frame Lock, and Lock Drop-outs are accumulated in independent 32-bit counters for front panel display and access by way of the remote control port.
A single 50-pin parallel output port is provided on the unit rear panel that contains: data, word number, frame number, frame and subframe synchronizer status and data strobes . This allows the Model 225E to present synchronized, decommutated data to a host computer or other external data acquisition system.
The Model 225E operates over the bit rate range of 1 bps to 25 Mbps, and supports PCM telemetry formats defined by IRIG 106. Local front panel control is accomplished by way of an intuitive menu-driven interface. Remote control is provided by an RS232 or IEEE-488 or optionally Ethernet interface. Installation and integration of the Model 225E into a new or existing telemetry ground station is simple.
